Urology, a relatively young surgical speciality, is the study of the urine organs of both sexes as well as the genitals of the male, and their diseases. Patients referred to urologists are those with kidney diseases, urine incontinence, and tumour diseases. Often urologists and oncologists cooperate. Prostate cancer is the most common form of cancer in the male. Within the last few years a number of new treatments have been introduced: the combination of radiation therapy and hormone therapy, placement of radioactive “seeds” in the prostate bladder as well as new pharmaceuticals.
